About Us

DEVELOPERS FIRST is a consulting organization specializing in assisting clients with commercial real estate development ventures. The company serves as a vehicle to organize and deploy networked resources to meet the strategic needs of its client real estate developers and project executives. It is a sole proprietorship of Miller Blew, a well known Boston-based commercial real estate advisor.

Successful real estate developers and project executives maintain established relationships with a range of capable professionals, contractors and brokers. Development teams are generally brought together early in the development process, with contracts arranged by negotiation or by competition. However, unless the new project is just like the last one, some pieces -- sometimes important ones -- will be missing. In our experience, missing strategic pieces are often found in financial management; in technology; and in creative marketing. Our experienced consultants, linked through Developers First, can help fill these voids for our clients.

    Miller Blew
  The proprietor of Developers First, Miller represents property owners as strategic and financial advisor.  Miller is well known for creative physical and financial solutions for commercial owners and developers.  He has over 30 years of experience in consulting, as an urban redeveloper and as principal of operating companies in mortgage banking, development, and property management.

He is widely published and has taught real estate subjects at Yale School of Management and Harvard’s Graduate School of Design. Miller has served as a real estate advisor to Harvard University and numerous business and real estate councils and organizations.

He is a graduate of MIT and the Harvard Business School (George F. Baker Scholar).

   
Norton Greenfeld
  Norton R. Greenfeld is the founder and CEO of Implements, Inc., a management consultancy to companies in the areas of technology, market analysis, business organization and growth. As a member of a Developers First team, Norton is responsible for strategic planning and the use of technology by our clients. Norton is an applied computer scientist with proven success in leading small technology groups, managing complex situations, and growing technically-oriented organizations. He is a syndicated market researcher, IT industry analyst, and trade publication columnist. He has started or helped start several companies.

He currently teaches a course in management and entrepreneurship at Babson College. Norton holds a B.S., an M.S., and a Ph.D. from the California Institute of Technology.
 

   
Carol Holliday
    Carol Holliday is an experienced market researcher and marketing consultaant. Carol has over 20 years of experience directing  marketing campaigns for a mortgage banking company, as principal of a property management firm and as a commercial real estate market researcher.

As a mortgage banking executive, she coordinated corporate marketing  at national owner conventions and coordinated ad agency and graphic design firms in the fulfillment of extensive corporate image and identification efforts.  As VP Marketing for a real estate development firm, she created audio/visual shows for tenant leasing.  She was also involved with lease negotiations with local, regional and national tenants.   

Prior to that, Carol directed a national public service advertising campaign and numerous research contracts for a national consulting firm.  She has written extensively on a number of topics that have been published by the U.S. Government, real estate journals, and other publications.  

Carol is a graduate of Smith College and Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government.

   
J. Michael Norton
  J. Michael Norton is the founder and CEO of Baystate Investment Advisors, a Massachusetts-based registered investment advisor. Through his firm, Michael is responsible for any professional service delivery for Developers First individual clients and their professional advisors. He has practiced professionally in the financial services industry since 1980. A real estate developer himself, Mr. Norton possesses unusually broad experience as an investment advisor, securities registered representative, mortgage broker, life insurance agent and income tax preparation, a unique combination of cross-disciplinary technical skills. Along the way, Michael has earned the CFP, CLU, and ChFC designations.

Michael attended the United States Naval Academy and completed his education at Bentley College earning degrees in Accounting and Economics.

   
John Marchiony
  A creative marketing consultant, John Marchiony is founder and CEO of Unicorn Strategic Program Partners, LLC, and operates FourColorPostcards.com, a specialist in precision direct mail marketing. As a consultant and through his firm, John is responsible for supporting our clients' marketing programs, communications and project identity development. John has more than 15 years broad-based experience as a marketing executive in multiple industries. In large and small organizations, he has filled leadership roles in strategic event marketing, Internet-based marketing, brand building and both consumer and business-to-business marketing programs.

John is a graduate of Dartmouth College.
